Three years ago, I was diagnosed with wheat intolerance - it all came to a head when I started a healthy lifestyle change of eating yogurt every day. This caused my system to completely over amp when I ate anything with wheat in it; my beloved home made bread, pasta and many other pre-packaged items such as - of all things - mushroom soup.
After a year of reading so many ingredient labels, it's been under control for a while.
I've been advised to slowly add wheat back into my diet, but I've also come across a lot of information about completely cutting wheat and wheat gluten out of your diet even if you don't have any issues with it, as wheat is a relatively new (anthropologically speaking) addition to the western diet.
Okay, last year (2010) in the spring, I started having issues with dizziness and fatigue, long story short, after blood tests, I was found to have low thyroid.
The dizziness abated after starting to take Synthroid, an artificial thyroid replacement, only to return along with some other very odd symptoms, including in August, complete numbness of my whole body starting in my feet.
The numbness crept up my whole body, and I started getting scared when it reached my neck.
However, after it reached my hands, it receded from everywhere else, leaving only my hands numb, which they still are today.
After numerous tests, including an MRI, I was diagnosed with MS (Multiple Sclerosis) as well as Hashimoto's Thyroiditis (which is where your immune system destroys the thyroid, thinking it's a foreign body).
So, the upshot of all these odd seemingly unrelated issues is that they are all auto immune problems, where the immune system attacks various parts of your body, thinking they are invaders.
Unfortunately, you can have many issues that remain hidden until an event such as surgery (hysterectomy in 2005, after which I had pneumonia) or other stressor (agents that cause stress).
So, after that long winded explanation, my question is: do you think it would be beneficial to do a colon cleanse on a regular basis? I'm not into doing a high colonic cleanse, but I would like some information on where to start.
I've also found that acupuncture really has helped my numbness, headaches and other varied symptoms, but I'm still having digestive issues, including diarrhea, interspersed with episodes of constipation, which is a common occurrence with MS.
Phew. That's it! Do you have any advice for me in my particular circumstances?
